Last week, we shared the first look into my third documentary The Great American Lie. This week, we’re asking you to contribute to the Kickstarter so we can finish production on the film.
Right now, there is so much inequality in our country, so much anger, and so much pain. But there is also so much hope. Over the weekend, I spoke at the San Francisco March for Our Lives and was inspired by the spirit and tenacity of the large crowd and thoughtfulness and intelligence of the youth organizers and speakers. Reading the reports and watching the videos from the other marches across the nation inspired me further, fueling my commitment to citizen activism.
That’s why I’m particularly excited to introduce you, today, to one of our film subjects, Ruby – a hard-working principal who puts the lives of her students at the center of her work – every single day. Here’s an excerpt of Ruby’s story:
Over the last three years of filming Ruby, we have been so inspired by her dedication to creating a school where the learning environment is innovative and rigorous, while also compassionate and loving. Like her, I love this country and know we can do better for our nation’s youth, for all of us! That’s why I wanted to seize this moment and really uncover how we got here and what we can all do to create a more just and equitable and prosperous America for everyone. This is the story of The Great American Lie and we need your help to get it out into the world. Please support the film today.
