Leading With Empathy Can Be Hard, Let’s Nurture Our Hearts

UPDATE: You can now listen to our guided “Heart Start” session on how to process news and stay engaged.

Our world can be a tough place to live in as was the case this past week. We were devastated by the headlines. We were stunned by the loss of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain to suicide, especially those amongst us who have lost loved ones this way. Our hearts ached at the stories of children being ripped from their parents’ arms at the border. And the injustice continues as we watch our country back away from offering shelter, by way of asylum, to would-be survivors of domestic violence.

These headlines, however, do not have to define us. As people committed to making the world better, we read and follow the news to make sure we are focusing our energy on the most pressing problems and the most helpful solutions. But we must also guard ourselves against the avalanche of negative news so we don’t lose our hope, our personal fortitude, or our ability to keep building a better culture for everyone.

That’s why this week, we’re partnering with HeartMastery™ and Heart Ambassadors™ to offer you a free, 30-minute “HeartStart” call. We’ll be discussing how to stay whole and healthy while the news rages on and human suffering continues. Call in to (641) 715-0872 with access code 539428 at 8:30 am PT on Thursday, June 14 (or listen in afterward online) to join us. Together, we’ll take some time to care for our whole selves so we can build stronger relationships and action plans so we can make a bigger impact.

Onwards,
Jennifer Siebel Newsom & The Representation Project Team
