2023 brought us several new women-directed films, like Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. What women-directed films can we expect on the big screen in the coming months? Among the Celluloid Ceiling report findings, we see that women directors introduce increased gender representation: “Films with at least one woman director employed substantially more women in other key behind-the-scenes roles than films with exclusively male directors.” As viewers, we can support women directors, writers, producers, executive producers, editors, and cinematographers by directly uplifting their work.
