Films in Action: ‘The Mask You Live In’ in New Orleans

Have you heard about the different ways that you can use The Mask You Live In and Miss Representation at an elementary, middle, or high school? With a public performance rights license, educators can use the films and curricula in their classrooms, for staff training, workshops with sports teams, and parent education events.

Here’s how a school in New Orleans used the film:

“In conjunction with National Media Literacy Week, we hosted back-to-back screenings of Miss Representation and The Mask You Live In. Film attendees, many of whom came to both screenings, deeply appreciated seeing the topics addressed concerning both young women and men, and felt that if either film had been left out, a crucial piece of the puzzle would have remained unaddressed.

People in our school community are still talking about the films, about gender mis-representation in the media and wanting to know more…These events and connecting up with The Representation Project have been highlight events in the life of our school community.”

-Michael Y. Simon, Middle & Upper School Counselor, Isidore Newman School, New Orleans, Louisiana
