At nearly every level of US government — whether in Congress, State Senates, or Mayoral Offices —women politicians only hold about 20 percent of power. Just consider the below photo of Vice President Mike Pence surrounded by all male politicians deciding the future of women’s healthcare.
As long as our political representation looks like this, we’re going to have to fight for policies that #RepresentHer like equal pay, paid family leave, universal PreK, and access to affordable health care.
That’s why it’s critical we prepare more women for politics to change this status quo. With IGNITE and Running Start, we’re hosting the #YoungWomenRun event: a 2-day training for politically ambitious college and young professional women. If you’re in the DC metropolitan area, join us! Otherwise, look out for our live coverage of the event July 17th and 18th. Together, we’ll break glass ceilings nationwide.
In Solidarity,
