Last week, The Associated Press reported nearly 2,000 children have been separated from their families at the border over a six-week period, from April 19 through May 31, under the Trump administration’s new policy designed to crack down on illegal immigration. Yet, child separation continues today with children and babies being ripped from their parents’ loving arms at the US’s southern border.
We cannot allow this administration, or any, to commit acts so far outside of our values of justice and equality for all. Every human being deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. To that end, 40 senators are supporting the Keep Families Together Act, legislation that would stop this inhumane process
This week, we’re asking you to join them by sharing this calling card and calling your member of Congress about the Keep Families Together Act. Let’s tell our elected representatives that families belong together. Every young person should feel safe and protected in our country regardless of their gender, race, class, age, religion, sexual orientation, ability, or immigration status. Together, let’s make this dream a reality.
Onwards,
Jennifer Siebel Newsom & The Representation Project Team
