In a post-#MeToo society, we are not only inviting men to become allies in the movement for gender equality but also creating space for men to step out of the “man-box” and embrace a healthier masculinity. With #AskMoreOfHim, we can encourage men to stand for women’s rights, end sexual harassment and violence against women, and share in responsibilities that women have had to carry the burden for centuries—such as caregiving, childcare, and empathy.
The pandemic illuminated that carework is an essential part of our society–and without accessible childcare, eldercare, and education, the economy can’t flourish. However, The Great American Lie reveals that it has been historically undervalued, unpaid, and dismissed as “women’s work.” We are ready to build a society that sees the importance of the feminized sector of carework.
In collaboration with One Fair Wage, we launched the #RaiseTheWage campaign to advocate for an increase in our federal minimum wage AND the gradual phase-out of the subminimum wage paid to tipped workers.
